Hockey has and will always be one of my biggest passions. I’ve been playing here in Virginia for a decade and it wasn’t until last year that I got to enjoy playing on our Central Virginia ponds. Most kids that grow up playing the sport fall in love with the frozen sheet at a young age, but I didn’t get that privilege until my mid twenties.
This project was a really organic way for my friend and co-organizer and I to work on our User Experience skills. We used our extended hockey networks to gather and organize twenty or so friends to a pond we set up (with the help of Mother Nature of course) and enjoy the rare occasion we can play pond hockey in such a moderate climate. Our first ever ‘Bryan Park Classic’ included a tournament bracket, food & bevs, fire pits, and professional photo and video coverage. There will most certainly be a second BPC the moment Virginia’s ponds offer us the chance again.
